The head of the African Union in South Sudan had invited the Republic of South Sudan to register with the African Charter of Statistics to improve its quality of statistics system.

Nakaha Staniflas said South Sudan needed to join the African Charter of Statistics to strengthened coordination of statistical activities and avoid duplication in implementing statistical programmes, Bakhita Radio reported.

He called on South Sudan to sign and ratify the Charter.

Mr Staniflas said the African Statistic Year Book lacked information on South Sudan to provide references for policy making, planning and donors.

He added that statistics were very important for feeding continental and global data bases for development.

Mr Staniflas made this remarks on Monday during African Statistic Day celebration.
