A youth training session on peace building skills started Thursday in Chukudum, Budi County of Eastern Equatoria.

County assistant Executive Director Taban Henry Lau officially opened the training, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Mr Taban asked the participants to learn as much as they could to share the information with the people at home.

The project, called “Youth Lead”, is meant to empower youths with skills to take active roles in decision making, peace building and development in Budy county.

Peace Building Technical Adviser for the Catholic Relief Service Lam Cosmos encouraged the youth to take advantage of the local conditions to make money through work.

Mr Lam urged the participants to address the issues of insecurity in the area together in order not to be held hostages by violent people.

Different youth groups from the Church, the County, law enforcement agents and parents representatives are attending the six-day workshop.

The Youth Lead Project is sponsored by UNICEF, and jointly implemented by CRS, Catholic Radio Network and the Catholic Diocese of Torit.
