The Governor of Eastern Equatoria has praised citizens for their hard work and tolerance to austerity measures.
Governor Louis Lobong Lojore expressed the compliment on Thursday at the opening ceremony for the Third Session of the State Assembly, Radio Emmanuel reported.The governor said MPs, civil servants, organized forces and the army needed to be thanked for their commitment to provide services to the people.
Mr Lobong added that the commitment of the people to hard work during the austerity period is a clear support to the governance of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The governor encouraged citizens to promote accountability, transparency, democracy, and inclusive governance.
Mr Lobong called for the promotion of peaceful co-existence among the many communities in Eastern Equatoria as well as with the neighbours.
He called for rule of law enforcement.
Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi accused critics of agitating the people against the state leadership.
He said some MPs and civil servants were tribal in their talks in the constituencies.
MPs returned on Thursday to the State Assembly after 45 days of recess.
