The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio will celebrate its centenary on December 12 in Mupoi Parish in Western Equatoria State.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of Tombura-Yambio told CRN that the one hundred years is a journey of faith in South Sudan.He said they have been preparing nearly for three yearsand they have designed programmes going from parish to parish carrying the cross of the centenary.
Bishop Hiiboro explained that the celebration is significant because it is about faith that came in after so many years of difficulties.
He said the benefit of Christian faith is transformation of lives and the integration of the people of South Sudan.
Bishop Hiiboro pointed out that Christian faith has been very instrumental in the struggle for self determination of the people of South Sudan that resulted into independence.
He invites all the people of South Sudan to Mupoi to participate in the celebrations of the centenary.
The Catholic Church arrived in Yambio Diocese on December 12 1912.
