A Sudanese delegation is in Juba for a joint political and security meeting to put in place mechanisms to implement the agreements signed on September 27 between the two countries.
The Sudanese delegation, headed by the Minister for Defence Abdel Rahim Mohammed Hussein, arrived this morning in Juba.Dr Mohammed told the press at Juba International Airport that the delegation came with opened heart and mind for consultation about implementation mechanisms.
He said the consultative meeting in Juba is key to the agreements signed in Addis Ababa and marks the beginning of new mutual bilateral relations between the two countries.
Dr Mohammed said he was optimistic that the two countries would move forward with the implementation of the security agreements.
South Sudan Minister of Interior Alison Manani Magaya welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Defence Minister John Kong Nyon.
He said the joint political and security commission should start implementing the mechanisms agreed by the negotiating teams.
The Sudanese six-member delegation will discuss with its South Sudanese counterparts the modalities needed for implementing the nine cooperation agreements.
