The SPLA-N claimed to have won another victory in Mitan, near Dalami in South Kordofan.
Heavy fighting took place there on Thursday between the SPLA-N and Government troops in an attempt to retake the area from the rebels.SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngattulu Loddi said their forces destroyed and repelled SAF soldiers back to Kadugli after inflicting heavy casualties on both men and equipment.
He added that 37 Government troops were killed and more than 70 wounded.
Mr Ngattulu said one SPLA-N fighter died and 17 were wounded during the clashes.
He added that the SPLA-N captured one AKM rifle and three boxes of AKM ammunitions.
