The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba decided to establish its own Major Seminary philosophy section in Rejaf East.

St Paul’s National Major Seminary had both philosophy and theology sections in its premises at Kobar in Khartoum.

The philosophy section was transferred to Juba last year and closed down by the Vatican following an inspection by the bishop of Marsabit, in Kenya.

Vicar General Nicholas Kiri Bate told Bakhita Radio that Erkolano Ladu Tombe was transferred from St Mary’s Parish in Terekeka to be the first Rector of Philosophy School in Rejaf.

Fr Kiri revealed that the authorities at the Vatican told the various dioceses of South Sudan and Sudan to take care of their seminarians in the philosophy course for the coming three years.

Fr Kiri said Rejaf Philosophy School is set to start on October 20 if the reports from a taskforce to establish the Philosophicum give the go ahead.

There are 15 philosophy students in the Archdiocese of Juba and five in St. Lawrence’s Minor Seminary, both located in All Saints Parish, Rejaf East.
