People from Nuba Mountains were urged to save this year’s harvest to contain the threat of hunger in the region.
The over one-year conflict in the state disrupted farming and few people grew crops around their homesteads.Executive Director of the Council of Ministers in Nuba Mountains Yousif Mohammed Alfaki asked people to use wisely what they harvested to feed their families.
He asked the community to economize the new harvest and take care of livestock.
Mr Mohammed criticized the Sudanese Government for using hunger as a weapon to destabilize the people living in SPLM-North controlled areas.
He remarked that despite government threats, the community should remain strong.
The Executive Director made his call as people started harvesting food from their farms.
