A technical committee to screen Western Bahr El Ghazal’s government employees has detected 1,005 ghost names in the payroll with no files in government records.

The Chairman of Ministerial High Committee, Zachariah Joseph Garang, explained to Voice of Hope that the technical committee was formed on directives from the National Ministry of Public Service through National Council of Ministers.

He said the committee started the work in November last year, and went through all ministries in the state. It found a considerable number of fake certificates and informal promotions.

Mr Zachariah added that the technical committee recommended training clerks on files keeping.

He asked for a medical committee to assess the age of the employees who have no certificates of birth and age assessments in their files.

The report was received with mixed feeling of surprise and acceptance before the governmental institution directors concerned over the figures.

Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan, praised the reports of the committee and urged all institutions to respect its outcome.

Officially the government of Western Bahr El Ghazal has more than 7,400 employees in the payroll while the real number rounds 5,600.
