The administration of Wau Teaching Hospital in Western Bahr El Ghazal on Wednesday morning inaugurated a classroom to train staffs in English language.

Most people working at the hospital studied in Arabic and communications and records are often carried out in Arabic, Voice of Hope reported.

The school aims at teaching English to Arabic speaking staffs as English is the official language in South Sudan.

Wau Teaching Hospital director, James Ukello Morgan, told the nurses at the opening ceremony to be committed to learn English regardless the age.

He made clear that after six months the hospital administration will not accept sick reports or data filled in Arabic at Wau Teaching Hospital.

Dr Ukello called on the state ministry of education to provide scholastic support and teachers.

The state minister of education Adil Athanasius Surur explained that the initiative of English Remedial School will accelerate English literacy in the state.

He acknowledged that Wau stands at number three among English-illiterate states in South Sudan.
