An International Organization, Samaritan Purse working in the Nuba Mountains has provided some food items to teachers who are coaching candidates sitting for this year Kenya Certificate of Primary Education.
The Director-General for Education in the Nuba Mountains, Kutti Ernesto Afjan, said the food will enable teachers run the tuition.Mr. Ernesto appreciated the organization for the great effort to help the teachers.
He added that the food is very essential and that it will allow teachers to have their meal and will cover the coaching.
The Director General said education remains the backbone of the nation and should be treated as the first priority in order to build the community, despite ongoing challenges in the state.
Samaritan has offered about 200 sacks of maize, beans and more than 100 hundred cartons of oil.
Mr. Ernesto therefore stated that the food given is expected to be distributed to all counties at the state level.
Candidates in Kumbur Payam centre two expressed readiness to attend the coaching although there is no food for them.
Some candidates said due to lack of food there is no accommodation in the school and they are living at far distance.
Samaritan Purse is one of the Non-Governmental Organizations that stands strongly with people in the Nuba Mountains since the beginning of the war in last year.
