The head of Nimule Border station said some customs officials are engaged into malpractices.

Angelo Ngot told Bakhita Radio in Nimule that some officials from customs and standards cooperate with business people to smuggle unwanted goods into South Sudan.

He added that some officials do not check the papers and consignments that traders import into South Sudan.

Mr Ngot revealed that his office several times caught traders importing expired goods into South Sudan.

He said lack of testing equipment makes it difficult to test the quality and expiry date of goods at the borders.

Mr Ngot warned all business people that if they are caught breaking the law they will face the full force of law.
