Youth representatives told leaders to let them get involved in decision making on issues related to peace and Constitutional review processes.
Young people from the ten states were given the chance to interact with the national youth minister and UN Resident Coordinator today in Juba.Awur Majour Nhial from Jonglei told CRN that the youth in her state were left out of the Presidential Peace Committee Conference last April.
She said the youth were ready to be part of the committee and they worked hard to sensitize the communities during the disarmament campaign.
Ms Majur suggested that instead of isolating youth from major decisions that affect their lives, they should be part of a national peace unit that can deal with any crisis that can arise in Jonglei and elsewhere.
Agustin Deng Kuol said International Youth Day is important because it focuses on youth empowerment.
He added the minister for youth and sports should put much work in empowering young people.
Mr Deng urged the youth not to wait for the Government but take initiatives to develop their skills by joining vocational training.
The UN sponsored International Youth Day is celebrated on Sunday followed by a youth conference on Monday and Tuesday in Juba.
