The pupils of St Joseph Basic School this morning got together to clean the street where the school is situated to contribute to the Keep Juba Clean and Green campaign.

Teacher Celestino Kenyi told Bakhita Radio that the pupils decided to clean the street because the areas around the school and Juba Teaching Hospital are dirty.

Mr Kenyi revealed that his school will continue to clean the street every week if it gets support from the authorities and NGOs.

Acting director general from the state ministry of roads, Peter Laku Loro, said the cleaning of the city is the work of the City Council but concern citizens could not be dispensed from keeping the streets clean.

He said the City Council lacks employees and the ministry assigned each school to clean the street next to it.

Mr Laku revealed that the City Council gives tools for the pupils to clean their areas.

St. Joseph Basic School is cleaning the road between Mobil to Muduria roundabouts and Juba One from Emmanuel Jieng Church to Mobil roundabout.
