Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly is considering terminating road contracts with a construction company due to poor performance.
Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi told Radio Emmanuel that the Assembly is seeking legal advice on the implications of terminating road, bridges and culvert contracts with McDowell Company.He said the legal advisors have 21 days to consult Juba and the McDowell Company about the implications of the suspension.
Speaker Ocholimoi said a number of institutions including Ikwoto County and the ministry of transports wrote letters complaining about McDowell’s poor performance.
He added that the parliament will decide in 21 days weather to terminate the road construction contracts with McDowell.
The Speaker said other contractors in the state are doing well.
The complaints are about the construction of bridges and culverts.
Eastern Equatoria State Parliament had tasked the Specialized Committee of Physical Infrastructure, Land, Roads and Transport, chaired by Aventore Bilal Kenyi, to investigate the performance of the McDowell Company.
This followed complaints from communities accusing the company of poor work, delays, incompetence and breach of contracts.
