Authorities in Yambio County called all the motorbike riders for a meeting to iron out some complaints, urging them to be careful.

Yambio Boda-boda Association chairman, Michael Semini Angelo, presented their grievances to the County authorities.

He asked for a piece of land to establish the association’s office.

Mr Semini also talked about regular changing of number plates and accused traffic police of demanding bribes.

County Commissioner John Elias Kuzee appreciated all boda-boda riders for their services.

He urged the association to monitor and identify all those working in as bike-taxis issuing them with identity cards or uniforms and know their backgrounds to prevent banditry.

Mr Kuzee asked boda-boda drivers to pay 50 pounds to get an operating license in the County.

He advised the operators to save the money they earn instead of spending it on drinks, food or women.

Mr Kuzee strongly condemned some riders who drink alcohol and drive.

He said the practice was harmful.

Mr Kuzee promised to give land to the association.

He urged the boda-boda association to cooperate with the government, especially the Criminal Investigation Department, to guarantee the security in the County.

County Traffic officer Lieutenant Gabriel Tang Kier advised boda-boda riders to get driving licenses and commercial plate numbers to avoid bribes on the road.

He asked boda-boda riders with white plate numbers to report to the Traffic Police and change them to green that are legal for all business vehicles or motorcycles.
