A group of indigenous language activists is calling on the public at large and particularly to the citizens of Central Equatoria to make financial contribution for its launch.

Patrick Ladu chairs the Greater Bari Language Development Association or GBLDA. He explained to CRN that the association was initiated in November last year to bring together the six ethnic groups that speak Bari in Central Equatoria to develop the language.

Bari, Pojulu, Nyangwara, Kakwa, Kuku and Mundari communities share the same language.

He said the association aims at the educational development of Bari language and greater Bari communities to portray their cultural similarities and work together as people with common roots.

Mr Patrik explained that the association is working on its launching.

He said the group is fundraising to call a general assembly that will approve its Constitution to start working.

He appealed to all the citizens of Central Equatoria states and the Greater Bari communities to contribute generously toward the initiative.

The GBDLA members meet in Juba every Thursday opposite Home and Away at 4:30 in the evening.
