The Department of Taxation in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has said on Friday that government cannot deliver services without taxing citizens.
A trainer at the Taxation Department, Emmanuel Lotiyu, said the government uses taxes to finance all its activities including basic services delivery.He said the money collected from the citizens is the one used for delivering services like education, infrastructure, health and agriculture among others to the citizens.
Mr Lotiyu added that without citizens paying taxes, government cannot deliver services.
Mr Lotiyu made the statement during a media seminar organized by the Department of Taxation in the Ministry of Finance to enable the media to educate the public on the importance of taxes.
