Upper Nile State authorities yesterday burned expired goods in Malakal market.

The Director for South Sudan National Bureau for Standards-Malakal branch, Peter Okuch Ayul told Radio Saut Al Mahabba that they aprehended different types of expired goods sold at Malakal market.

He said that they got rid of about 54 tons of maize flour and sugar, and more than 6,000 litres of oil and beverages.

Mr Okuch condemned the selling of expired goods to the local population in the Republic of South Sudan.

He said many of these goods were brought from Juba to Malakal.

Mr Okuch added that the authorities in Juba should work hard to prevent traders from importing expired goods.
