More than 40 Mendi residents of South Kordofan have fled to Talodi County, an area under Sudan Armed Forces, due to hunger that has struck the areas controlled by the SPLA-North.

SPLM-North leader Aburas Albino Kuku said there were six people who went to Talodi on Tuesday and other 41 went on Monday.

He said on Wednesday at 3 o’clock in the evening some soldiers went after those civilians and up to now they did not find them.

Mr Albino explained that some of the civilians have told him that sometimes they spend a week without food.

He said others have said that they had no intention to go, but hunger forced them to leave.

Mr Aburas urged all Mendi residents to be patient because the humanitarian aid is coming soon.

The Mayor of Mendi town, Gamar Juru Ali, blamed humanitarian organizations for the delay.

He urged NGOs to hurry with the aid because the situation in Mendi is worsening.
