The 49 members of Western Bahr El Ghazal Legislaytive Assembly were sworn in Tuesday in the presence of the head of the State High Court.

The state MPs were sworn in according to state’s Transitional Constitution that was signed in March, Voice of Hope reported.

Governor Rizik Zakaria Hasan said he appointed an MP to represent people with disabilities.

He asked the lawmakers to fight corruption and promote unity to strengthen the state and promote development.

The Governor added that the state must follow inclusiveness, transparency and accountability.

Governor Zakaria explained that he delayed of reopening of the assembly due to tensions at the boarder with Sudan.

Charles Abiye, the head of State High Court, urged the assembly to create a good relationship with legislatives from other countries to get exposed.

He called the House to developed the capacity of MPs with the assistance of international organizations and NGOs.

Former speaker Andrea Myar Ashou conducted the first session according to the state Transitional Constitution.
