DHOL COMMUNITY GETS NEW HEAD CHIEF IN NASIR

The Dhol community in Nasir, Upper Nile State, has a new head chief.

Five candidates for head chief and two for deputy head chief contested for leadership on Monday, Internews Network reported.

It was a traditional election monitored by the county electoral board, headed by County Commissioner Dak Tap chuol.

Commissioner Tap declared Lojok Wal Lual the winner.

He passed with 16 votes out of 38.

Commissioner Tap also announced that Kek Gany won the deputy chief position with 18 votes out of 34.

The Commissioner said the election was free and fair.

He assured the Dhol community that the elected chiefs will serve them well and work hard to bring peace among the community.

He also assured the Bichiok community that their chief elections will be held on Thurday.

Deputy Head chief-elect Kek Gany Bokjiok appealed to the Dhol community at large to cooperate and work together for peace and social respect within the county.

He said his first priority is to unite the community and work for the equality of everybody when handling the court cases as a chief elected by his people.
