Seasonal high temperatures are thought to be the main cause for an outbreak of chickenpox in Nuba Mountains that infected a number of people.
Nurse Joseph Nyatumbi said high temperatures between March and May favour the spread of chickenpox.Mr Nyatumbi added that the disease is very dangerous particularly for children and pregnant women leading to premature births and malformations.
Mr Nyatumbi said applying mud on the body is a traditional way of treating chickenpox.
He added that the mud should be extracted from clean soil in river banks.
Mr Nyatumbi advised people to keep their compounds clean to avoid common waterborne diseases during the rainy season.
