The Governor of Lakes State has urged the youth who have volunteered to serve in the South Sudan army to remain committed to their decision while they wait for training.

Chol Tong Mayay told the recruits at the SPLM Youth League compound Monday that it was normal to feel fear at some point and there could be some who have already given up or are being influenced by family members to reverse their decision.

He urged the youth not to quit and be patient because preparations for their military training are already underway.

Eng Tong advised the recruits to remain united and be disciplined.

He thanked the youth for volunteering to join SPLA. The Governor warned that the State could recruit to the army youths that are involved in cattle raiding by force.

SPLA Brigadier General Valentino Tokmac Chanuong said the army has enough troops to defend South Sudan.

He advised cattle rustlers to abandon the practice and join the SPLA.

Lakes State mobilization team says over 700 young men and women have so far registered in Rumbek.
