Students of St Joseph Secondary yesterday broke the cup of Yei Day Secondary after a long dispute between the two schools yesterday evening over the celebration of an inter-school sports tournament.

Yei Day students yesterday took to the street of Yei on a motorcade to celebrate their victory over St Joseph and decided to pass by the playground of their opponents.

The head boy of Yei Day Secondary School, Kuku Abil, told Easter Radio that they were using three cars to celebrate their victory.

He added that his car got a puncture in front of St Joseph’s Secondary School and while the others went for a spare tyre they were attacked by their opponents who demanded the trophy from them.

Santo Logwonga, head prefect of St Joseph’s, said that the students of Yei Day came to celebrate the victory in front of them, provoking, annoying and insulting them.

He added that St Joseph’s students seized the cup and broke it to pieces.

Mr Logwonga complained that Yei Day’s celebrations disturbed their preparations for the first term exams.

The situation was clam today.

No student was reported injured in the scuffles.

In the end, Yei Day students took St Joseph’s sign posts with them.

The two headmasters and the County Sports Supervisor were not on hand for comments.
