Juba University Students Union must be brought to justice to allow peace negotiations following last week’s tribal clashes that force the institution to close.
Juba University Equatoria Students Cultural Association Secretary General Mbikoyesu Moses Poalino told CRN today that the Students Union body must be brought to book as soon as possible. He said if the Students Union is not brought to justice the administration of Equatoria Union is going to open a court case against them.
Mr Moses added that the Union registered an association called Non-Equatoria Committee which is biased.
He said the struggle was for South Sudan and not for a region or tribe and this kind of language must be stopped.
Mr Moses said his Union cannot allow peace negotiations to go on until the Students Union is accountable for the injured people and looted properties.
He added that the families of the injured students must also be paid for the expenses with their children’s treatment.
Mr Moses said 13 students where injured. One who was shot is still at Juba Teaching Hospital and another severely beaten was referred to Uganda.
He asked the police to investigate who were the politicians involved in last week’s riots at the University of Juba.
