A one-month training on trauma counselling concluded on Friday in Rumbek with the graduation of 28 participants from various parts of South Sudan and Sudan.

Catherine Kisasa Muthonde, a consultant trainer for Healing the Healers, told Good News Radio that the training approached psycho-trauma counselling integrating relevant skills in response to emerging needs in South Sudan.

She explained that integration of extra skills helped to equip participants with additional knowledge on how to offer counselling services effectively particularly on emerging issues like alcoholism.

Fr. Arkangelo Louis Segin from the diocese of Wau appreciated the training saying that it helped him discover that he was traumatized by the war.

He added that the training contributed to his healing process.

He promised to use the skills received to counsel people back home.

Wilfred Waweru, a psycho-trauma counselling trainer and consultant, urged people to make use of the services offered at Healing the Healers.

He told them to refer those undergoing psychological problems to the centre.

Participants came from the Catholic dioceses of Wau and Rumbek in South Sudan, and El Obeid, in the Sudan. Others were from NGOs, government and secondary schools around Rumbek.
