Chaos and gunshots took over last night the University of Juba main campus when students staged protest at 10:30 PM over power blackouts.

One student told CRN over the phone that the students from both boys and girls’ hostels were unhappy with power shortage since the university was on total blackout for the last three days.

Another eyewitness said the students in the main campus started the protest.

He alleged that the students had guns and they were the ones who started shooting when police tried to disperse them.

The police responded by shooting into the air and the situation was brought under control.

The police cordoned off the university, vehicles and people were not allowed to pass by the campus.
