A Japanese agency is stepping in to boost both public television and radio in South Sudan.

JICA, Japan International Cooperation Agency, senior advisor on peace building Hashimoto Keiichi told CRN this morning that the organization is going to support South Sudan TV and Radio in three ways.

A group of expat experts will come to South Sudan as technical advisors to train the staff at both public stations in the fields of engineering, programme production and journalism.

Mr Keiichi said JICA is to provide equipment to both South Sudan Television and Radio to improve their broadcasting capacities.

He added that the agency will invite staff from both stations to Japan to get extra experience and training.

Mr Keiichi said the project that takes four years to develop is going to start in September.
