JRS, the Jesuit Relief Service, is closing its projects in the Catholic diocese of Yei at the end of the year.
JRS Project Director of Yei Office Eriga Victor Johnson said the Catholic charity is making arrangements to close its project in Yei until the end of December.He explained that with the consolidation of peace refugees and dislocated people returned to their areas and the government has the capacity to provide services and security for its citizens.
Mr Eriga said JRS will relocate to other parts of South Sudan, including Western Equatoria, where the influx of refugees and returnees is increasing and there is no education support in place.
He thanked the hosting communities for working closely with JRS staff.
Mr Eriga said JRS is soliciting support from some competent Community Based Organizations to conclude some projects still functioning.
The JRS representative made these statements while presenting the JRS Exit Report to the ongoing Yei annual diocesan meeting in Lutaya.
JRS is involved in illiteracy eradication projects through scholarships to the needy and building primary schools.
