The governor of Western Equatoria has called on the Government of South Sudan to support Churches and enable them to serve better the population.
Joseph Bangasi Bakasoro said Churches and clerics played focal roles in bringing peace to the nation, Radio Emmanuel reported.He remarked that the Churches in South South Sudan fully delivered both material and spiritual support to the Government as well as to the people during the liberation struggle.
Governor Bakasoro added that it was time for the Government to help the Churches to deliver more services to the people.
He recognized that most government officials got their education through the support of the Churches in South Sudan.
Governor Bakasoro called on such officials to campaign for the support of the Church.
Eastern Equatoria Governor Louis Lobong Lojore reiterated his readiness to work closely with the Churches and the Muslim community in the state for the development of the nation.
He recognized the contribution of the Churches during the liberation struggle and said they are part and parcel of the history of South Sudan.
He added that most top leaders in the state are either former seminarians or priests.
The two governors made their remarks during Bishop Paride Taban’s diamond jubilee celebrations at Holy Trinity Kuron Peace village in Kapoeta East County of Eastern Equatoria.
