UNMISS, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, has opened a computer centre and a library at Torit Day Secondary School in Eastern Equatoria State.

Ten computers, including eight desktops and two laptops, and 11 computer tablets were installed at the centre together with other key equipment, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Eastern Equatoria agriculture minister Jerome Surur Gama was the chief guest at yesterday’s inauguration ceremony.

He urged clients, both students and civil servants, to make adequate use of the computer centre and library to strengthen their skills for the benefit of the state.

The minister called on development partners to extend similar projects to other counties in the state.

UNMISS force commander, Major General Moses Obi, said the computer and library project should be treated with great care.

He urged young people to take full advantage of both equipments to prepare their future as leaders of South Sudan.

The computer centre and the library are an initiative of the Bangladesh Battalion development under the Quick Impact Project that aims to support the peace process and address the needs of the population.
