Holy Cross and St Daniel Comboni primary schools in Yirol started the registration of P ONE pupils and other classes with a high turnout.
Holy Cross Head teacher Abram Mayor Machiek told Good News Radio that the turnout of pupils was very high despite harsh weather conditions.
He appreciated the parents’ perseverance and commitment to register their children in school.
The new Principal of St. Daniel Comboni Primary School, Antoine Kondo Komivi, said the registration was overwhelming.
He added that the school administration was forced to listen to the plea of parents.
Fr Kondo, a Comboni Missionary from Togo, explained that although P1 should have 80 pupils he had to register 98.
Holy Cross-Yirol Parish priest Joseph Parlade welcomed the registration of the P One pupils.
He called on the schools to consider pupils with certificates from other schools, giving special consideration to returnees.
Fr. Parlade, a Comboni Missionary from Spain who has been boosting education in Yirol East County, warned against random transfer of pupils from one school to another.
Both Holy Cross and St. Daniel Comboni Primary Schools are expected to conclude the registration for the academic year by the end of the week.
Both schools have classes from P1 to P8.
