Media is a powerful instrument of communication and dialogue and yet a dangerous one, said a veteran journalist.

Fr. Renato Kizito told Radio Good News that the media is extremely important because changes mentalities and promotes respect.
Fr. Kizito encouraged the media in Sudan to promote peace during the ongoing elections campaign and during the voting.
He recalled the role of the media during the post-elections violence in Kenya two years ago.
However, Fr. Kizito warned that the media can be very dangerous, for they can spread hatred and division as it happened during the Rwanda genocide.
The Kenya based missionary appealed to Sudanese people to approach the media with caution, adding that individual choices have to be respected since voters are not masses but individuals listening to the media.
Fr. Kizito is a Comboni Missionary from Italy. He is the founder of New People Magazine and author of several books, some of them about the Sudan and the Nuba Mountains.
He is in South Sudan accompanying an Italian Radio and Television crew that is preparing a programme on the elections.
