The Catholic Archdiocese of Khartoum on Monday evening organized an ecumenical prayer for the elections under the theme “Know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

The prayer at St. Matthew’s Cathedral was attended by Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako, the Archbishop of Khartoum, Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak, president of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference and the Bishop of Wau and Bishop Jonathan A. Kuku of the Angelical Church of the Sudan, SCR News correspondent reported.
Abel Alier, the Chairman of National Electoral Commission, some government representatives, many priests’ denominations and the faithful were also in attendance.
During the Reflection, Cardinal Zubeir asked all the faithful to pray for the upcoming election in order for God to bestow on both the elects and the voters to vote for what is genuine for the betterment of the country.
The Archbishop of Khartoum urged all Christians to make the affairs of the country their own, because most people do not know what they are going to do, both the candidates and the voters.
Abel Alier, Chairman of National Elections Commission, thanked the church for her concern for the peace in the country.
Mr. Alier added that the elections process was stipulated in the CPA and it must be honored.
