The Speaker of Lakes State Legislative Assembly has rejected the income and assets declaration forms sent by the National Anti-Corruption Commission due to the use of inappropriate terms.

John Marik Makur said the forms were not legitimate because they are still carrying the old Sudan coat of arms written the Republic of Sudan and the use of the term Southern Sudan which is not the country’s legal name.

He said the forms send to the MPs were not appropriate to use because they carry lots of mistakes still linking the country to the old Sudan.

Speaker Marik added that the parliament observed the usage of terminologies such as Southern Sudan and SDG instead of South Sudan Pounds.

He said the state parliament resolved last year that forms be returned to the Anti Corruption Commission for amendment.

He added that the state MPs will only fill the forms amended and endorsed by the Southern Sudan Anti Corruption Commission Act of 2009 and it should quote Articles from South Sudan Transitional Constitution 2011, instead of the Interim Constitution of Southern Sudan 2005.
