The General Education Secretary in Nuba Mountains said all secondary schools in the region are to start operating in Yida Refugee Camp in Unity State.

Simon Kalo said the government has decided to transfer all secondary schools mainly run by teachers from Uganda to Yida due to insecurity in the area.

Mr Kalo added that the situation could not allow expatriates teachers to continue with their work in Nuba Mountains.

He said all primary schools were going to operate in Nuba Mountains except the areas badly affected by war like Kadugli ,some parts if Um Durein and Buram counties where whose schools will also be opened in Yida.

The General Secretary called on the community and parents whose children are in secondary schools to send them to Yida.

Mr Kalo explained that the education in Yida is free and parents have only to pay their children pocket money.

The students are going to be fed by the UN.
