Taxi and bus operators are overcharging passengers who travel between Yei and Juba.

Mary Annite, a businesswoman who travels frequently the Yei-Juba route, told Radio Easter that right from the end of last year up to now each passenger pays 70 pounds for a trip between the two cities.

She said before the hike on prices drivers were charging 40 pounds per trip.

Ms Annite explained that the huge increase on transport fees affected her business and now she is operating on a loss.

She appealed to the county authorities to lower transport fees and make them affordable to every passenger, especially the poor and farmers.

Radio Easter was unable get a comment from the office of the County Logistics Officer and the concerned authorities at Yei Park about the rise of transport fees from Yei to Juba.
