Restrictions on alcohol consumption have improved lives of rural communities in Eastern Equatoria state.

Tobiolo Oromo, an MP at Eastern Equatoria the State Assembly, told the people in Hatire Payam that they improved their health and welfare since the prohibition to transport, trade and consume alcohol in sachets was put in place by the state authorities, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Mr Oromo, who commended the people for following the ban on alcohol consumption, urged them to cultivate larger areas to produce enough food to feed the nation.

He challenged the people to work hard in order to stop depending on food from Uganda and Kenya.

Mr Oromo was talking to farmers at Hatire centre during a trip with officials from the national and state ministry of agriculture surveying the area for potato production.
