The new United Democratic Front (UDF) leader said the party needs to regain its reputation after former head Peter Abdurrahman Sule was arrested for rebelling against the Government of South Sudan.

Mr. Sule was arrested two weeks ago after recruiting some militias and trying to establish a rebel base in Western Equatoria.

Philip Yona Jambi told Bakhita Radio this morning that the UDF needs to regain its good name and become a vibrant party again.

He explained that the UDF Constitution condemns any act of armed conflict and encourages peaceful resolution of differences.

Mr. Jambi added that the UDF was seriously affected by lack of money to run its activities.

He said the UDF gets funds through the contribution of its members.
