A committee tasked with investigating Eastern Equatoria State government pension funds for civil servants failed to present the report to Parliament.

The eight-member committee formed by the Public Service minister was scheduled to present its findings to House yesterday but the speaker and his deputy were absent, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Eastern Equatoria government spokesperson Nasike Allan Lochul told the press that speaker Ambrose Ocholimoi is in Juba for the Governors’ Forum while his deputy Paul Napwon was held by floods on his way from Kapoeta.

There was no official communication from the Assembly on a rescheduled date for the presentation of the pension investigation report.

Public Service minister Emilio William Odingila asked the committee to probe the monthly contributions of state civil servants towards the pension scheme as well as to find out any irregularities.

The committee checked the pay sheets from July 2005 to June 2011 to identify and verify the number of pensioners in the state due for 2011 and to investigate the purpose of four million pounds deposited in Nile Commercial Bank before its closure.
