Eastern Equatoria Governor issued a decree relieving Peter Ochillo Bongomin as Magwi County Commissioner.
The decree became effective on Saturday, Radio Emmanuel reported.Louis Lobong Lojore thanked Mr. Bongomin for the services he rendered to the people of Magwi while in office.
No replacement has yet been named and no reason advanced for the Commissioner’s removal.
It is not clear whether the decree was a response to Acholi and Ma’di communities’ who demanded the removal of the commissioner following recent clashes between them in Magwi County where about five people lost their lives.
The two communities also petitioned the state government for two separate counties and more payams for Opar and Panyikwara areas through the inter-Church peace team that visited Magwi County to bring Acholi and Ma’di people together.
