The first batch of teachers is set to start a two-month in-service course in early January at Bishop Caesar Mazzolari Teachers Training College.
Diocesan Education Coordinator Maureen Limer told Good News Radio that the College will start the training for teachers who are working in schools. They will be trained for two months each year for four years to finish the South Sudan Teachers Training in-Service Course.
She said the teachers training will begin under the trees because there is no building yet for classrooms.
Sr. Maureen said the opening of the teachers’ training will be an achievement of late Bishop Mazzolari’s vision and hope.
The training centre was named after the late bishop who died in July.
She explained that about 30 teachers are expected to graduate from the course after four years adding that teachers who want to improve their English or specific subjects are welcomed before they join the course next year.
Sr. Maureen stressed that commitment will be the main qualification the administration will expect from the teachers to complete the four-year course adding that those want to come for one year are not welcome at all.
She said the training is meant for people who love teaching and want to offer their service to educate children for South Sudan to have a better future.
The Teachers Training Centre was initiated by the late Bishop Caesar Mazzolari of Rumbek in Cueibet.
