TIME FOR NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON ISSUES OF DEVELOPMENT

This is the time for South Sudan to learn from African countries and start a national dialogue to reach consensus on governance and give provenance on national development.

SPLM-DC Chairman Lam Akol told that attendants at a public lecture he gave on Issues of National Dialogue that political independence is intertwined with economic independence.

He said depending economically on other countries means losing sovereignty and the independence will just boil over to a flag and running over power.

Dr Akol stressed that the national dialogue must focused on development issues because it was their neglect that let South Sudan to independence.

Dr Akol said this is the right time for dialogue for South Sudanese to reach agreement on the best way they should govern themselves.

He added that national dialogue should be the first step towards a correct beginning.

Dr Akol said there is unanimous agreement among political parties on national issues.

He decried corruption as a disease that eats into the meagre resources of the nation and has become a cancer.

Dr. Akol said the birth of South Sudan is a huge responsibility upon the political leadership to set the country on the right path of development.

He concluded that the South Sudanese need to carry put a deep wide-ranging dialogue among themselves to develop a common approach to the future and a national consensus on issues beyond party lines while managing diversity.
