The chairperson of the committee tasked with drafting the Transitional Constitution has presented the document to Eastern Equatoria Assembly for deliberations.

Clement Chichim Laku, who is also the state parliamentary affairs minister, presented yesterday the draft Transitional Constitution to the House for its first reading, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He says the state Council of Ministers had collectively approved the draft on Friday, after studying the document during two days.

Mr. Chichim asked the MPs to pass the draft Transitional Constitution into law after deliberations.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi said the first reading was only limited to the titles and the session was adjourned for the second reading.

He said the Eastern Equatoria Transitional Constitution will be passed after the third reading.

The speaker appealed to MPs to maintain the quorum in the House in order to complete the Constitution’s process smoothly.
