St Daniel Comboni played a positive role in transforming the lives of African Christians.
The Vicar General of the Catholic diocese of Yei, Arkangelo Angotowa, said before Comboni came to the Sudan Africans were in darkness.He added that Comboni shed light though evangelisation and development, especially education.
Fr. Angotowa said Comboni also helped to fight slavery and his motto was to offer services and preach to the Christian community to live in peace.
He appealed to the Christian community, especially parents, to rear their children in the Christian values.
Fr. Angotowa was speaking at the celebration of the Comboni Day at St Daniel Comboni prayer centre in the diocese of Yei.
