SOUTH SUDAN INVESTMENT SEMINAR KICKS OFF

South Sudan Investment Seminar for Japanese and local investors kicked off this afternoon in Juba under the theme “The world’s newest investment destination.”

The seminar is attended by more than 50 Japanese businesspeople headed by Japan’s Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs.

National Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Garang Diing Akuang said in his opening remarks that the Japanese investors’ visit meant that South Sudan is a very attractive economic destination.

He added that he hoped the Japanese delegation will be different from other investors who keep on waiting for better days after visiting South Sudan.

Tatsunobu Sako, who leads the Sojitz group in Middle East and Africa, said Japanese private entities are excited and ready to contribute to the development of South Sudan.

He said South Sudan needs to development a good business environment that promotes investment and trade and provide security and good governance.

Mr. Sako added that basic improvements of the business environment is essential for economical growth and facilitate private investments together with better infrastructures.
