Citizens of Juba are not comfortable with the abrupt decision to move the capital of South Sudan to Ramciel.
Bakhita Radio organized a live forum discussion yesterday about the transfer of South Sudan’s capital.Abraham Thiup, one of the participants, said it was too early for the Government of the Republic of South Sudan to think about the transfer of the capital from Juba to Ramciel.
He added that the priority of the Government should be economic stability.
Michael Thon was another participant. He said hurrying to Ramciel was like jumping into fire with a strong belief that one is not going to burn.
He added that people would still erect grass houses in Ramciel because they do not have money to build with cement.
Gabriel Kiir said the Government needs first to address the challenges of the rising cost of living, security and economic stability before embarking in the transfer of the capital.
He said it was not reasonable to think about a new capital that costs a lot of money and endangers the economy of the new nation.
