The disarmament of civilians with illegal weapons is set to restart in Warrap, Lakes and Unity states later this month.
Christo Simon Fataki, Director for Small Arms control in the Ministry of Interior, told journalists that illegal weapons threaten peaceful coexistence among communities, Bakhita Radio reported.He added that the Bureau for Community Security and Small Arms Control is organizing a peaceful disarmament exercise by mobilizing the communities and the army.
Mr. Christo said the exercise starts with the mental disarmament of the communities through public education and awareness campaigns.
Disarmament activities are already underway in Cuibet County of Lakes States.
