EASTERN EQUATORIA CONSTITUTION DRAFT COMMITTEE STARTS WORK

Members of a committee charged with the reviewing and drafting the Eastern Equatoria Transitional Constitution held their first meeting yesterday.

Eastern Equatoria state minister for Parliamentary Affairs, lement Chichim Laku chairs the committee tasked with preparations for the Charter.

He told Emmanuel Radio that the committee members consulted the Governor who defined the terms of reference for their work before they divided into two subcommittees to tackle the drafting of the Constitution.

Mr. Laku explained that the two subcommittee formed by the 21 members of the Constitution Review Committee include an administrative secretariat charged with the role of budgeting.

He said there the committee will organize two workshops to allow the people of Eastern Equatoria State to make their contributions into the Constitution.

The Transitional Constitution Drafting Committee is made of ministers, MPs, representatives from civil society organizations and Churches and advisors.
